The puppy lemon laws that have already been enacted vary accordingly from state to state and include such remedies as reimbursement up to the purchase price, reimbursement up to two times the purchase price, and additionally reimbursement for veterinary care, plus sales tax.

Each year non-profit organizations, breeders, animal rights activists, the veterinary community, and animal enthusiasts push for legislation which sets higher standards for the care of animals in the retail pet industry, thus affording consumers more rights than ever for pet health care.
