Information for New Pet Stores

Pet Assurance Warranty Service ("PAWS") is a valuable professionally-administered warranty program which allows pet stores to provide the coverage for illnesses they are legally liable for under puppy lemon laws. The PAWS warranty program is ideal for new pet stores and existing pet stores throughout the United States and Canada.

One special feature of the PAWS warranty program is that it is customized by state to fit each pet store and retailer's actual needs. If your pet store is located in a state with a puppy lemon law, PAWS customizes its warranty program, including your pet store warranty and documents, to comply with the applicable lemon laws. Even if your pet store is not in a state with a puppy lemon law or you want to provide additional warranty coverage, we can customize a warranty to suit your needs. We have warranty programs that provide anything from a $500.00 maximum benefit up to two times the purchase price of the animal as a maximum benefit.

The warranties PAWS provides to pet stores covers illnesses attributed to the pet store as well as congenital or hereditary illnesses for which the pet store or retailer may be legally liable. For example, the warranty covers infectious and contagious illnesses, such as kennel cough, upper respiratory infection, giardia, and coccidia, protecting the pet store and easing worries. Similarly, congenital and hereditary illnesses, such as hip dysplasia, luxating patella, cherry eye, and some types of colitis, are also covered.

When your pet store joins our program, you simply issue your warranty to each customer who purchases a covered pet using PAWS-supplied documents that are easy to handle and complete. PAWS then administers and manages your warranty claims, putting your customers at ease and freeing up your in-store time for other matters. And, of course, our services are normal business expenses that are generally tax deductible!
